Day 416: The Concrete Floor

Because I still have my holidays I have had time to commit to a couple of carpentry projects on the farm where I live. Some of them, I am really satisfied with, others, I am not. A few days ago I completed one of those projects which I am not satisfied with, at all.

The project was about casting a new concrete floor in the carpentry cabin on the farm. The floor was definitely in need of a remake, because it had a big hole in one section, a oil spill in another, and looked generally, quite rough. On my mothers initiative, it was thus decided to recast the floor. And I was on board and excited about the project, because I have never worked with concrete on my own before.

However, this excitement, and throwing myself into the project, was also, partly what caused me to in the end, be dissatisfied with the results. Because, without doing much research, my mother and I bought some bags of concrete, and without doing much research – except for making a few calls to check in with a couple of retailers – then I threw myself into blending, meshing and throwing the concrete.

The first thing that happened, was that we had not bought enough concrete. Hence, we were only able to cast roughly one fifth of the surface, and then we had to wait for a couple of days, until we were able to buy more concrete. Because of this a part of the new floor got a different color compared to the rest, and a slightly different height. Obviously, I was not very satisfied with that.

Then, the rest of the floor, because I had not done my research, it got a rough surface, not the floor-like, normal surface that I am used to. Further, the floor height was raised about 25-30 mm which made the height of the ceiling, in some areas, too low. All this because, I did not consider, reflect and look on the point beforehand. It was done impulsively, on a whim, and the results were equal and one to that.

When I looked how this happened, how I got carried away, I see that it has to do with the excitement I was experiencing in relation to the project, and also, a form of anxiety/fear of not being productive. The excitement point, well that is easy to understand, I was excited to get started and begin working. The anxiety/fear of not being productive, has to do with the belief/idea, that what counts is the finished product – and the physical labor that is put into creating that physical product. I have seen that my mother has the same belief. And the consequence of following/living according to this belief, is that the process of consideration/looking/preparation/planning will take a backseat – and the ‘doing’ will be placed in the forefront – causing unnecessary consequences – such as in this case. Because if I would have slowed down, and meticulously planned the point, undoubtedly the results would have been a lot better.

That is the lesson to be learned. However, instead of simply learning, and moving on, I got stuck in a loop of judging myself, where I thought that I could have known, that I should have slowed myself down, that I should have pushed myself to do the necessary planning. It was a form of torment within myself. When I looked at the point I realized that the origin point of this judgment was actually not that I was dissatisfied with the result – but that I had caused a ‘loss of money’ and time. According to the capitalistic mind-set, this project and the execution of it could be defined as a waste – however – for me it was not – because the process of walking the point – what I learned from it all – WHO I WAS within the execution – all of that is still with me – and that is not something that can be defined utilizing money or used time as a marker.

Self-forgiveness

I forgive myself that I have accepted and allowed myself to judge myself, and to feel bad, and become obsessed within myself of thinking that I should have, and could have created a better result, if I would have prepared myself more and done things differently, and thus I forgive myself that I have accepted and allowed myself this character, thinking that it was a great loss, because I lost money, and I lost time, and apparently, I need to utilize these two resources to produce and manufacture, and create monetary value, so that I am able to survive

I forgive myself that I have accepted and allowed myself to use money and time, and see money and time, as things that I have to be careful with, because I might waste them, and think that what must be done with this resources are to generate more monetary value into my world – and I forgive myself that I have accepted and allowed myself to become fearful, anxious, and judgmental, when I perceive that I have used these resources to something ‘unnecessary’ and something that did not produce the necessary ‘monetary value’ that I believe is important

I forgive myself that I have accepted and allowed myself to not learn from my mistakes, and then empower myself through this learning, and do that without judging myself, and thus I forgive myself that I have accepted and allowed myself to believe that I learn better, that I learn more, that I learn faster, when and as I am judging myself – instead of seeing, realizing and understanding, that no, I do not learn more only because i judge myself, this is an idea that I have created, and in-fact – I do not need any emotional experience within myself to SEE, UNDERSTAND and move on

I forgive myself that I have accepted and allowed myself to become carried away by a rush of wanting and desiring to complete and produce and see the final results – instead of pushing myself to remain methodical, structured and calm – to slow down – and to allow each point in the process to take its time – to see, realize and understand that the value of life/living/expression is not in the finished product but in the process of movement/application/walking – and within and as WHO I AM in the moments of life/living/expression

I forgive myself that I have accepted and allowed myself to not see, realize and understand, that from my mistakes, I can learn a lot, and I can do that without judgment, simply by seeing and recognizing what I am dissatisfied with, and then taking that with me, and changing myself – hence – it does not have to be – in anyway a emotional or reactive point – it can simply be me learning and then moving forward to apply what I have learned

Self-commitment statements

When and as I see myself becoming carried away, excited, and wanting to move ahead to the execution phase in a project, I immediately stop myself, I take a breath and I bring myself back here – and I see, realize and understand that a project is not only about the execution, that I have to see the entirety of the point, slow down, look at it, consider, prepare, and plan – that in physical reality, when doing things that I have not done before – things will move a lot smoother, and without as many problems and issues, if I give myself time to consider and look at it – and thus I see, realize and understand that each point has its time to be created – and that there is no meaning or point in trying to stress and force a project to move forward – thus I commit myself to take the time required and needed for me to walk a point of creation with the necessary attention to detail and preparation that is required for me to be able to walk the point effectively and manifest my vision into creation – there is nothing wrong about something taking a lot of time to create – in-fact all things of value and substance do take time to put into creation

When and as I see myself judging myself for having made mistakes, for having moved to fast, without consideration, I take a breath, I stop myself, and I bring myself back here, and I see, realize and understand, that I can learn from my mistakes without judging myself, and that it is not ‘the whole world’ that I loose money and time because of mistakes and things that could have been avoided, its simply a consequence, and I can learn from it – and hence the time has not been wasted, the money is not wasted – because it is all about WHO I AM within and as the project/expression and what I take with myself

Day 326: When Things Does Not Go According To Plan

Let us face it. Some times things do not go according to plan, do not turn out the way we imagined, feel the way we hoped, or shape the way we envisioned – sometimes mistakes happens. For me, this has happened in relation to the house I was recently part of building together with my partner. We mapped everything out, planned, considered, and looked, and yet, when the finished product is manifested HERE, there are things I am not satisfied with.

For example, the shower has been located in a area of the bathroom with a very low ceiling, making it impossible for someone that is taller than 1.90 cm to use it efficiently. I am able to do it, however, if it was to be, that anyone else is will live here in the future, that is tall, they would have a problem. What has particularly bothered me about this mistake is that I did have an opportunity to intervene and direct the point. I remember that I got home from work, and my partner showed me how the carpenters had set up the bathroom, and I could immediately see that the shower room would become a problem. I said this to my partner, who told me to tell this to the carpenters so that they could change the construction. Then, I said, it is too late anyway! They have already begun to build!

And it was true, they had begun to build already, however at that time, they had only yet put up the wooden framework, and it would have been easy to relocate and change the disposition of the room. But I did not say anything, and then, layer upon layer was added, and now, it is a complete bathroom, and changing the location of the shower room now, would imply a complete re-building of the toilet – and that is NOT something I am particularly interested in at the moment.

The problem I am faced with now, is that every time I enter into the shower, I become irritated, and annoyed, and start thinking about this shower, and that it is not effectively placed, how I could have changed the outlook of it if I would have stuck to my guns, to moment, immediately as I saw that the planning of the toilet would become a problem.

Today as I walked into the toilet, and this backchat emerged within me, I decided to change it, and look at it differently. Because, instead of seeing this, according to me, badly located shower, as a thorn in my side, and a constant reminder that I did something wrong, it is instead something that I can utilize to learn and expand. And I have realized that mistakes will never cease to happen, I will not one day become sufficiently perfect to never make mistakes. Every time I venture into a new area of expression, a new phase and part of my life, regardless if that is building a house, taking on a new career, starting a new hobby, there WILL be mistakes. In-fact, mistakes is a natural part of the growth process, of learning something, finding myself within it, becoming accustomed to, and making decisions of what I like, and what I do not like, what is acceptable and what is not acceptable.

Hence, this poorly located shower, it is a reminder to myself that it is important to be self-honest, to not accept and allow myself and my world to be less than what it could be, and to when I find out that something is not effectively aligned, to then make sure that I act, and that I walk the process of correcting the point. AND – that I must dare and practice the courage of SHARING myself when I am dissatisfied with something, and not assume that it is too late, or that I am wrong, or that I should not say anything, but to act, move and direct myself, to see what possible, potential solutions there are for the problem I am faced with.

Not only does this bathroom offer me the opportunity to learn something when it comes to other parts of my life, it is also a great challenge in practicing living words. Because what I noticed happens within me, when I start to become irritated as to how the bathroom looks like, is that I become hard, grave and stern. I have however asked myself, would I feel like this if I was a child and made this mistake with the shower? And the answer is NO, I would not have. The reason is that as a child, I was more in the moment, more HERE, and not as invested into my belongings, as long as the shower worked, and warm water came out, it was all to my liking. And the difference between myself now, and myself as a child, was that my focus back then was HERE on me expressing, moving, directing myself in the MOMENT – I was more light-hearted and embracing of my reality regardless of how it looked. Thus, this shower problem offers me an opportunity to practice this expression of being light-hearted, easygoing and carefree that I stood as when I was a child. I do not have to make everything so serious! It is just a shower and nothing more!

This concludes my stories with the failed shower. For anyone walking through similar issues, my suggestion is to embrace the child within you, the wild, playful, carefree, and easy-going expressions that once existed within us, and that we are able to embody and live again. Fuck-ups and mistakes is a part of life, thus, let us embrace them, learn from them, and move and to perfect our creations, and obviously, dare to make more mistakes!

Day 321: My Alternate Realities

Holding on to points, this is a tendency that has opened up within me during the last week. I have encountered this when it comes to second guessing decisions I have made, where I want to hold unto the potential direction that I did not choose, and when it comes to holding unto experiences – and in particular desires/wants/urges – when these experiences come up – it is hard for me to let go.

Why is it that I do not want to let go?

From what I can see, it has to do with the idea that if I let go, I will miss out and loose something that would have made my life a lot more entertaining and effective. For example with the decisions I have made with my career, I still hold unto, and do not entirely want to embrace the direction I have chosen, because, what if, that other direction that I did not pick was the better one? And then when it comes to desires/wants/urges – it is the same thing – because usually I will have made a decision and picked a certain path to fulfill a certain desire/preference – and then the fear comes up; what if that other direction was better?

Hence, why I want to hold unto things is because I fear missing out, I fear making a mistake, I fear doing the wrong thing, I fear not being able to experience my desires/dreams the way I hoped – and hence I create a way to hold unto that potential within me. Obviously, this does not work, because in physical reality, I have already made the decision, and in-fact, I am only compromising myself and my future by holding unto a alternate reality, because how can I give myself completely to my life if I am divided within myself? A house divided will not stand.

The solution is to embrace my life as it is here – the decisions I have made – to walk them fully and see where they might take me – to not accept and allow myself to live in alternate realities – but to live in this ONE reality HERE – and make the most out of it. To live the COURAGE of letting go of any alternate reality – to remain in ONE reality and make the most of what is in-fact HERE – for REAL. Because, is there anything that I can possibly gain by holding unto a imaginary alternate reality in my mind? No, nothing, as that alternate reality is not even real, and many times, not a possibility either, as I have already committed myself to the decision I have made to such an extant that it would be ridiculous to go back on it. I see that I must EMBRACE reality as it is HERE – and work with it – and make THAT the priority – WORKING with what is ALREADY here.

Self-forgiveness

I forgive myself that I have accepted and allowed myself to live in and nurture alternate realities, prospects, hopes, and unfulfilled desires, that I want to be realized in these alternate realities, and thus hold unto emotional patterns, as I fear letting them go, as letting them go, would equally mean that I let go of my alternate reality

I forgive myself that I have accepted and allowed myself to not see, realize and understand that life is not created neither lived in an alternate reality, because in-fact, there is no such thing as an alternate reality, it only exists in my mind, and hence, I want to hold unto, and live for and as my mind, for the idea of a reality that exists in my mind, instead of sticking with what is REAL here, and developing myself, my life, my physical, practical living, on a day-to-day basis, to as such construct, and create something of real value, and not merely something that exists in my mind

I forgive myself that I have accepted and allowed myself to fear letting go of my emotional reactions, because I fear letting go of my alternate reality, and hence I forgive myself that i have accepted and allowed myself to not make an absolute decision, in terms of making the decision completely, fully, without looking back, making my direction and clear and then moving myself, and hence not stopping up in mid-air, to look back, and see whether it might have been better to remain behind, because fact is that I am now mid-air, I have jumped, now the process and what is relevant is to direct myself HERE – and if I do not do that – I will create consequences for and as myself

I forgive myself that I have accepted and allowed myself to not see, realize and understand that when I have difficulty letting go of an emotion, most of the times, it is because I am protecting and defending an alternate reality, a hope, a desire, an urge of wanting my life to be formed and shaped in accordance with my alternate dream reality, and hence I forgive myself that i have accepted and allowed myself to not will myself to let go of the point – and implement the direction of LIVING and CREATING – and BUILDING myself and my life HERE

I forgive myself that I have accepted and allowed myself to believe in my alternate realities, in how I want things to be, instead of living and participating HERE with how things REALLY are, and thus I forgive myself that I have accepted and allowed myself to not remember that what goes on in my mind – in my alternate dream realities – that will not ever come real – it is a imagination, a accumulation of various believes and ideas, integrated into a false story existing in my mind, that will not ever exist, because it is not of and as physical matter

I forgive myself that I have accepted and allowed myself to not embrace REALITY – and realize that the solution to my tendency of living in alternate dream realities, is to investing myself fully into this reality – into this life – giving LIFE my everything – and hence not accepting and allowing myself to vest my attention, focus and effort into a false reality existing only as pictures and images in my mind

Self-commitment statements

I commit myself to invest myself in this physical reality – to give attention, focus and effort into living and creating myself HERE – to understand that I can only create my life here when and as I am here – and I am not split in my mind between various imaginary realities

I commit myself to embrace my life as it is HERE and make the best out of it – to give myself fully – through being HERE in each and every breath – and walking in every moment with and as breath – with and as my physical body

I commit myself to create in the physical – and stop myself when I notice myself going into my alternate realities of the mind – and to instead bring myself back here – and focus myself on creating and living HERE

Day 266: The Building Blogs of Life

The building blogs of life – what is that?

Consider the following: Who you are is made up out of words, where each word has a definition, and that definition can consist out of other words, experiences, feelings, emotions, pictures, or memories. When you move yourself throughout life, make decisions, create relationships, pursue a career, or commit yourself to a project, your relationship to this point in your life will be dependent on the words and their definitions that you exist/live as. If you accordingly have defined the word love through memories of being hurt – potentially – that word will instigate a fear within you – and hence – when you have an opportunity to create a loving relationship – you will experience resistance/fear/tenseness – because in your world – love is something you want to avoid.

On a deep level in ourselves, this is how we create ourselves and by implication, our lives. We create through the words we ARE – and mostly – we have copied these words from our parents. The result is that we become very limited – we have a limited input of words – a limited input of definitions – and few perspectives/examples of how to live words. Fact is that we already as toddlers integrate and become the words our parents live – as such it happens on a quantum physical level; it is not something that we do consciously. This is the reason as to why words are the building blocks of the human being.

Now, what I want to show in this blog is that blogs, are the building blocks of life. What do I mean by this? Obviously it is not any kind of blog that will be able to become a building block in our lives. The blogs we write must be introspective, self-honest, and focused on finding a solution to a flaw that we see in our character. We all have these flaws, yet most of us do not do anything about it – and this is why most humans live mediocre and average lives – they do not make the most out of themselves and their lives – they remain with their limited vocabulary – and their limited definitions. However those of us that are willing to see our flaws have the opportunity to specify and clarify what these flaws are in writing – through writing a blog – in this getting a perspective and overview of what it is that we are doing within ourselves.

When we SEE ourselves and what we do, when we see the construction of our mental world, our character, we are able to affect change – we are able to specify a solution and live/manifest this solution into existence. Without writing/blogging, this is very hard to do. Hence, each blog written from within this starting point of getting to know self, getting to understand self – is a building blo(g)ck of our life – of the new life we want to create for ourselves where we decide what words to live, and we decide what definitions these words should have.

Writing is one of the most powerful tools of self-creation that exist. Through writing our decisions down, through writing down our inner worlds, through writing down what we want to create, and how we want our life to become – we are able to create a extraordinary life for ourselves – yet not only for ourselves – but for everyone else in our life as well. Each blog is a stepping stone in the process of self-creation – each blog is a statement of WHO I AM and what I will accept and allow – and what I will not accept and allow. Hence, the creation of real life begins with words written down with the intention to bring these words alive.

Day 242: What is real evolution?

What is real evolution? The general accepted view of evolution is that of external shifts in form, techniques, and designs – and mostly the word is connected to survival – and from the human point of view – evolution is most often seen in the context of career or spiritual awakening, aka enlightenment.

2000px-Human_evolution.svgLooking at my own definition of the point it’s clear that evolution has been connected to moving away from my parents, and ‘creating’ my own life, getting my own apartment, and my own first job, and standing on my own two feet in the world system. This is something I’ve come to define as being a freedom as well, because being away from my parents, I’m apparently free to create my life as I wish – and I can now do whatever I want to.

Interestingly enough events have opened up in my life where I know find myself living with my mom again, on the farm were I once grew up – on the farm that I used to define as extremely limiting, that is positioned in a small rural town that I resented in my teenage years for not being hip, and revolutionary. I wanted to get away from it, live in some big city, and ‘experience’ life – and I used to consider the people that stayed behind as being the biggest losers, because I thought that they were missing out on life.

And now, I find myself in that position that I before used to judge, and resent, and the fascinating thing is that – on a physical level – it’s great for me – the country side allows for a expansive, physical, and creative lifestyle, with lot’s of contact with animals and nature. Compared to living in the city, the farm offers a more calm, serene, and easy life – put plainly: There is not as much shit on the countryside. Though, on a mind level – I have had conflicts emerge – residues from my past conclusions and assumptions of the country life – were I defined this lifestyle as BORING.

Thus, I am now presented with a clear perspective on the irrational nature of the mind, because in the mind, we evaluate points on the basis of FEELING and EXPERIENCE and not from a starting point of PRACTICALITY – and this is obviously a big problem. So, from the minds perspective, I have seemingly regressed by moving back to the place were I grew up, and I have missed out on my evolution through not getting a place of my own, but instead opting to live on the same farm as my mother. In the mind’s eye this is a complete failure, because I am not out there in the world, exploring, having adventures, and acquiring knowledge through meeting and interacting with new points.

Though, is there anything that says that I am conditioned to not explore, to not experience, develop new skills, and new abilities while living on a farm together with my mom? Is there anything that says that I am physically more limited to create my life when I am living on the countryside where I used to grow up, compared to if I was living in a town, far away from my place of birth? The simple answer is NO – and here we get into seeing the REAL expression and definition of evolution.

Because the fact is that REAL evolution is not limited to the external reality, in terms of where we live, and the people that are in our lives, our jobs, etc. Real evolution is a decision we make, to in the confines and limitations that do exist in this physical world – regardless of where we live – move, express, and drive ourselves to expand – and this expression can come through in all places, in all contexts, in all situations – because it’s about WHO WE ARE.

For example, I live on a farm, with literally thousands of opportunities to start exploring various relationships with nature, animals, agriculture, construction, machinery, and so forth. Thus, even though I am living where I once grew up, it by far means that I know all parts of my physical surroundings, and it by far means that I have investigated all the various parts that together make up the thing we call country-life – such as for example: Gardening, driving a tractor, organizing equipment, caring for and supporting the various farm structures – the fact is that there is an entire existence before me that I have yet to delve into.

Though, what happens when I am in my mind thinking that expansion and self-creation is somewhere out there? Where is my focus? Well, it’s obviously OUT THERE, and in that I miss the opportunity of self-creation that exists HERE – the moments of self-expansion, and self-movement that are opening up HERE – those points are easily glanced over when the mind is set out to build something in the future.

Thus, the correction to this point, is to bring the world evolution back to the present, to see, realize and understand, that self-expansion, self-movement, and self-creation are words that can only be lived HERE – that no town, job, or career in the world can give me these words – I must give them to myself – and I must live them in my daily life – I must make them part of myself – and push myself to be present and aware here to see when a opportunity for self-expansion open up, so that I can walk into it, learn, experience, and evolve myself – develop myself.

To summarize: Regardless of where we find ourselves, with whom we live, what job we have, and what our circumstances are – WE have the power to expand, develop and evolve – we have the power to CREATE ourselves and make the best of what is here – that is UP TO US – nobody can do it for us – it is a decision that we make to participate and be aware of every breath, of every move we make – because only then are we able to recognize what is in front of our eyes, and walk into the opportunities that do unfold every single day.
